“Russia will strike Ukraine’s strategic rear”: Expert warns of threats to Europe
Military expert Oleh Starikov explained that, given the way the war is currently unfolding, Russia will not be able to achieve victory. Therefore, he believes, Moscow may begin targeting Europe and its defense industry, which supplies Ukraine. Otherwise, Russia faces defeat, reports Politeka.

According to the expert, given the current state of the fighting, Russian forces cannot defeat the Ukrainian Armed Forces. To do so, Russia would need to disrupt Ukraine’s rear-area supply system. That is why, he says, the Russians first targeted railways and locomotives, are now imposing a naval blockade and striking crossings with Moldova, while pressure on Ukraine’s land borders will increase.
“For Russia to accomplish its objective, it will launch strikes deep into Ukraine’s strategic rear, targeting weapons production facilities and logistics. And I am not talking about Ukraine. The main weapons production facilities supplying Ukraine are located in Ukraine’s partner countries, not in Ukraine itself. According to military logic, these facilities would have to be bombed, just as the Allies bombed Nazi Germany during World War II. If the countries supplying Ukraine with missiles, UAVs and other weapons are not bombed, Russia will not be able to defeat the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the battlefield. And they know this,” Oleh Starikov explained.
Therefore, he says, Russia is now taking measures to strike facilities in Ukraine’s strategic rear. Ukraine’s strategic rear, he argues, extends as far as Canada, but that is too far away, while Britain is much closer. Otherwise, the expert explains, according to military logic, Russia will lose the war in 2027–2029. They know this, he says, which is why they are now either shifting the war to the European theater of operations or facing defeat.
“This is apparently one of the issues raised by the CIA director in Moscow. But the targets, coordinates and flight plans have already been identified, and Russian sabotage groups and agents have reportedly been deployed, prepared and are waiting for the command. We should not forget that, for unclear reasons, defense industry facilities in Italy and Bulgaria have begun to explode. Something is being taken and blown up, supposedly by accident. Then, in Germany, a drone collided with a military transport aircraft, and three more drones were subsequently found. This is a kind of psychological and cognitive warfare: there is no need to blow up an aircraft; it is enough to demonstrate that it could be blown up. And what happens? Panic,” Starikov concluded.
