Unexpected Move: Expert Reveals Where Russia May Be Preparing a New Offensive

Political analyst and Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko has warned that Russia is currently considering various scenarios for launching a surprise offensive in order to stretch Ukraine's defensive lines, Politeka reports.

He shared this assessment on his blog.

"Against the backdrop of a lack of success in the south, Russia may redeploy some of its airborne units from the Donetsk region to the Kherson region and even attempt offensive operations across the Dnipro River, including river-crossing assaults, in an effort to stretch our defensive forces. They may attack in areas of the front that seem unexpected and take an unconventional step," Musiienko noted.

According to the expert, the front line remains of critical importance to Russia. While Moscow continues to rely on terror strikes to weaken Ukraine, spread panic among the population, and undermine morale, it also aims to achieve military objectives on the battlefield. These include attempting to stretch Ukraine's defensive line by intensifying offensive operations, for example from the left bank of the Kherson region, where such actions might be less expected.

In any case, Musiienko stressed that enemy activity is being closely monitored and its plans are well understood. Should an offensive take place, Ukrainian forces are expected to respond with firepower to prevent Russian troops from achieving their objectives. However, Russia's broader goal is to force Ukraine to divert troops from the Donbas, thereby weakening key sectors of the front.

"In addition, as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi has previously warned, there remains a threat that the enemy could launch offensive operations from Russia's Bryansk region toward the Chernihiv region. That is why, on the Commander-in-Chief's orders, additional brigades are being formed," Musiienko added.
