The Armed Forces of Ukraine have begun to create "drone lines" with a 50-kilometer strike zone: Russian troops will not be able to launch offensives

The Ukrainian Defense Forces are launching a new strategic initiative - the "drone lines" project, designed to effectively deter offensive actions by Russian troops.

The project involves five UAV units: "Birds of the Magyar", "Rarig", "Achilles", "Phoenix" and "K-2". Since the beginning of 2025, joint coordination has been carried out by the Commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Drapaty.

The main goal of the initiative is to create a so-called kill zone (a zone of destruction up to 50 kilometers deep from the front line, which is fully controlled by drones. This territory is divided into sectors: 5–10 km, 10–15 km, 15–20 km and 20–50 km, each of which is serviced by separate reconnaissance crews. Their task is to detect targets and promptly transmit coordinates for strikes.

The nearest 5 kilometers from the front line are planned to be mined and cleared of possible shelters - the enemy should not be able to gain a foothold. Next are the sectors of logistics, artillery support and zones for strikes on rear infrastructure, including bases, air defense and warehouses.

At the current stage, the implementation of the concept is only just beginning: most tasks are still in preparation. However, the minimum goal of the project is to completely stop the advance of Russian troops.
