Donald Trump noted that he had cooperated with Erdogan on many issues, and therefore wants to involve him in resolving the war in Ukraine.

Trump wrote about this in Truth Social.

"I just had a very good and productive phone call with Turkish President Recep Erdogan covering many topics including Russia's war with Ukraine, everything related to Syria, Gaza, and more," Trump wrote.

He said that Erdogan invited him to visit Turkey and also announced his visit to Washington. Trump noted that he had a great relationship with President Erdogan during his previous presidential term.

Trump noted that he had worked with Erdogan on many issues, including helping bring imprisoned Pastor Andrew Brunson back to the United States.

"In any event, I look forward to working with President Erdogan to end the senseless but deadly war between Russia and Ukraine - now," the US President wrote.

Turkey's position on the war in Ukraine:
Turkey has taken a relatively neutral position in the war in Ukraine, trying to maintain a balance between supporting Kyiv and its relations with Moscow. Ankara has condemned the Russian invasion and reaffirmed its support for Ukraine's territorial integrity.
