Expert assesses first day of three-day truce in Russia: “Russia violated silence and attacked”

war in Ukraine

Political expert and military officer Oleksandr Musienko commented on Zelensky’s phone conversation with Trump and said whether the US will finally put pressure on Putin, Politeka reports.

He said this on his blog.

According to the expert, after this conversation, Zelensky said that Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire for at least 30 days from today, and Trump called on Putin to agree to such a truce. In addition, he adds, this is probably the first time that specific intentions for action have been voiced as a result of such conversations – Trump is ready to impose sanctions if Russia refuses.

"I would like to remind you that a few weeks ago, Secretary of State Rubio said that the US could apply sanctions, but this would be a last resort, a last resort, if they see that they have no other levers of influence, other diplomatic resources and opportunities to convince or force Putin. That is, now they are clearly saying: "Either you, Putin, go for a ceasefire for 30 days, or there will be tougher sanctions. Strictly speaking, this is already a position," - says Oleksandr Musiyenko.

As for the 3-day ceasefire, he notes, we can state that there have been no launches of Russian missiles and shaheeds yet, but the Sumy region is suffering from strikes by KABs, so we will see what happens next and whether it will be possible to extend it for 30 days.

"There was no final ceasefire on the front. Russia violated the regime of silence and attacked Ukrainian positions, as there are relevant reports from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. "The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Sybiga, in particular, informed our international partners that the military had reported to him about the violation of the ceasefire. And we must, of course, pay attention to this in order to understand how much Russia actually wants peace or does not want it, and that Russia must be forced to this peace, at least to a ceasefire," states Oleksandr Musienko.
