If Witkoff is a good cop, then Keith Kellogg is a bad one, - political scientist on the US attitude to Russia

Keith Kellogg, U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine

Political scientist Ruslan Bortnik spoke about the confrontation in Trump's entourage, where, in particular, Witkoff and Vance are focused on a deal with Russia at any cost, and Kellogg is against concessions, Politeka reports.

He wrote about this in his blog.

"He (ed. - Kellogg) continues to say not only pleasant things for Ukraine, but he continues to say quite unpleasant things for Moscow, playing the role of a kind of bad cop from the American side for Moscow. If Witkoff is a good cop, then Keith Kellogg is a bad one," notes Ruslan Bortnik.

In particular, the expert recalls, Kellogg recently called Putin the main barrier to a ceasefire in Ukraine and said that Russia is not winning the war, and he continues to be in contact with Kiev and Brussels, since he is responsible for this area in American diplomacy. As he explains, if Vance and Witkoff are a more conservative wing of Trump's entourage, focused on reaching agreements with Moscow and making concessions, then Kellogg represents a wing that is slightly closer to the European and Ukrainian position, he is pushing for an idea of a truce without preconditions and the idea of refusing any concessions regarding the Russian Federation.

According to the expert, the loss of National Security Advisor Waltz for this second pro-European wing may be felt in the end, but now the struggle in Trump's entourage continues. “We see how these two wings are trying to make the American bird fly, but it seems to me that they often flap out of sync, so we see a lot of somersaults in the air, strange poses, sometimes really real threats of falling with the risk of crashing to death,” concludes Ruslan Bortnik.
