Political strategist says whether China will sit down at the table of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations

China

Political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman said that after the end of the trade war with the United States, China unexpectedly supported a 30-day truce, so perhaps Xi will put pressure on Putin, Politeka reports.

He wrote about this in his blog.

As the expert says, the United States and China have finally concluded a truce and ended the trade war for at least 90 days. In particular, he notes, the United States reduced tariffs for China from 145% to 30%, and China for the United States - from 125% to 10%.

"You ask me, why am I bothering you with some trade negotiations between China and the United States? What do we have to do with this? We are at war. But on the same day, a statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry appeared that China supports the 30-day truce proposed by Ukraine, Europe, and the United States. This is the coalition we have now. And there is no one else left in the world. Who is left for Russia? Burkina Faso and North Korea, which was banned from marching on Red Square because Xi was there and he didn’t like it. Do you understand the scale of the changes? ”, explains Mikhail Sheitelman.

In addition, he says, there is a version that Xi Jinping, leaving Moscow, ordered Putin to agree to a 30-day truce, but, as we see, the war continues, so now it is interesting to see what China will do. According to the expert, China generally always acts quietly, without talking too much, for example, it was probably the one that waged a proxy war with the help of Pakistan against India, but quietly ended it, and the next day Trump’s tariff war ended - all this is connected.

“Now, it seems, they are taking action on the front of Ukrainian-Russian negotiations. And China, let me remind you, always insists on territorial integrity and compliance with the UN Charter, because it itself needs territorial integrity. Xi is not going to give up Taiwan. If now someone forces Ukraine to give up some territories, then China will also have Taiwan in question. So this is a revolution," concludes Mikhail Sheitelman.
