The Russian army is counting on a summer campaign: an expert said whether the aggressor has enough forces

war in Ukraine

Political expert and military officer Alexander Musienko commented on the Financial Times publication that Russia is preparing for a large-scale offensive, not a ceasefire, Politeka reports.
He said this in his blog.

"What the Russian troops are doing shows that Putin is counting on a summer campaign, which, according to the statement of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President of Ukraine Zelensky, is ongoing. And now this summer campaign, despite the fact that it is not yet summer according to the calendar, is taking place," Alexander Musienko notes.

According to him, Russia has set a goal to do everything possible during the summer to, if not capture, then at least come close to capturing and fully occupying the Donetsk region within its administrative borders. Even the Financial Times publication, the expert says, says that Russia has currently deployed its forces in the Pokrovsky direction, in the Toretsk area, which is where the aggressor is pulling up its forces, thus narrowing the areas for the offensive, focusing on the Donetsk region. That is, he states, Russia is transferring forces from the Kursk region and other directions to the Donetsk region, to the Toretsk, Pokrovsky and Lyman directions, where offensive operations will take place.

“We must understand that Russia does not currently have the potential to conduct offensive operations along the entire front line. To restore this potential, of course, they need a pause, but not for a month. 30 days is not enough. This will take half a year, at least a year. But if there was a ceasefire for such a period, it is obvious that for Ukraine this is an opportunity to take advantage of such a pause, we would also recover independently and in particular with the help and support of our Western partners, who would produce weapons, purchase them, and be ready to invest in weapons production here," Oleksandr Musienko concludes.
