Congress has the opposite position to the one supported by Trump on Ukraine, - political expert

Trump

Political expert and military officer Oleksandr Musienko explained that Trump's condescending position on Putin is not liked by American voters, so Congress may adopt sanctions, Politeka reports.
He spoke about this in his blog.

"Merz pointed out the importance of Western unity. According to him, coordination with EU partners and communication with US lawmakers will remain central elements of the German strategy. I emphasize what Merz focuses on. He is talking about communication with US lawmakers, that is, with Congress - the Senate and the House of Representatives, two chambers. Why is he talking about this? And it's very simple - because in Germany and in European countries in general, they understand that Congress has the opposite position to the one supported by Trump on Ukraine," - Oleksandr Musienko notes.

As he says, 81 senators out of 100 supported new ultra-tough sanctions against Russia, the purpose of which is to economically isolate the aggressor and punish its allies. This, the expert reminds, is about Lindsey Graham’s 500% duty on imports to the United States from countries that buy Russian energy resources.

In addition, he adds, the authors of the bill do not hide that the main goal of the sanctions is not only to weaken Russia, but also to hold China accountable for supporting Putin’s war machine. Lindsey Graham, the expert emphasizes, directly says that it is China, by buying Russian oil, that allows Putin to continue the war; without Xi Jinping, the aggressor’s army would not have survived.

“Will Congress as a whole go against Trump? I think that none of the scenarios can be ruled out. "They will monitor, they will conduct polls, surveys, sociological surveys, what voters think, how satisfied they are with the activities of Trump and the Republican Party regarding various political aspects, in particular regarding the policy of deterrence against both Russia and China, and they will draw appropriate conclusions," Oleksandr Musienko concludes.
