Now Trump is the only one who can push Putin to some kind of agreement, - political scientist

Donald Trump, Putin

Political scientist Vladimir Fesenko assessed which factor can move the negotiation process from a peaceful point - a military defeat of the Russian Federation, sanctions, Trump or China, Politeka reports.
He spoke about this on Ruslan Bortnik's channel.

According to the expert, the decisive factor is still the military situation, because Putin did not want to negotiate either last year or this year, because he sees Russia's advantage on the battlefield, he has a feeling that the war can be won. In addition, he adds, this is Putin's traditional tactic - to put pressure on negotiations by military means.

"The second factor is still the Trump factor, if he is more active and more persistent, if he sets tough conditions for Putin. Do you want to negotiate with me? Okay, I also want to negotiate with you, but first we must resolve the issue of ending the war in Ukraine. In my opinion, Trump is currently the only one who can push Putin to some kind of agreement. Putin is not ready for this yet, but if the Trump factor continues to operate, the window of opportunity will remain,” says Vladimir Fesenko.

The expert also claims that in this regard he believes less in sanctions, because, as many have already said, Russia has adapted to these restrictions. Unless, he notes, they hit Russian oil sales on global markets, but this will not affect immediately and not in a direct form.

“Nevertheless, the decisive factor is still the Trump factor. Perhaps, in the long term, the position of China. Although China, it seems to me, is not very interested in this now. For them, the trade war with the United States has come to the fore, and Ukraine is now less significant. And they will definitely not help the Americans, there is no interest in this. I am exaggerating a little, maybe even too emotionally and I will say it harshly, but from China’s point of view, let the Americans screw up, and then we can come and try to resolve this situation,” concludes Vladimir Fesenko.
