Trump Announced Arms Deliveries to Ukraine: Expert Assessed How Long It Will Take and Whether It Will Happen at All

Donald Trump, war in Ukraine

Political expert and serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko explained that the U.S. will provide aid to Ukraine using European funds — meaning Trump is shifting responsibility for arming the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Politeka reports.
He discussed this in his blog.

As the expert notes, active discussions are currently underway about when Ukraine will receive the weapons Trump promised to sell to Europe. However, as German Defense Minister Pistorius stated, Musiienko says, the process of transferring Patriot systems to Ukraine will take from several weeks to several months. Regarding the 17 Patriots Trump mentioned, the expert adds, even the Pentagon has not commented on it, because it's unclear whether he meant full batteries or individual launchers.

"Trump considered supplying Ukraine with long-range Tomahawk missiles. They are currently excluded from the supply list, but they could be added later if Trump wants more leverage... How has this affected Putin? Last night, I don’t think we saw any effect. Residents of communities in Sumy, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia, who were attacked by Russian aviation, didn’t see it. Nor was it seen on the front lines where Russian forces were advancing," Oleksandr Musiienko emphasized.

In the expert’s view, the overall situation looks like this: Trump, although he agreed to supply weapons to Ukraine, did so using European money — thus offloading responsibility. In other words, he explains, if something goes wrong, Trump can say it’s not his fault — that the Europeans underpaid, delayed the deliveries, or the logistics failed.

"Let’s be honest — over the years of full-scale war, we’ve clearly learned to distinguish between promises and real actions, between statements that weapons will be delivered and the actual impact on the battlefield. This is all clearly visible, and obviously, we won’t be fooled," Oleksandr Musiienko concludes.
