Germany Promised 5 Patriot Systems to Ukraine: Expert Assessed When They Might Arrive

Political expert and serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko said that for several months, Ukraine’s partners have been discussing the delivery of Patriot systems, and he shared his assessment of when Ukraine might finally receive them, Politeka reports.

He discussed this in his blog.

During a “Ramstein” format conference, the expert says, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated that the U.S. and Germany had reached an agreement to provide Ukraine with five Patriot air defense systems, which are to be delivered as soon as possible.

"As soon as possible" is, of course, a very “precise” term. When could this actually happen? There is hope that we’ll receive 2–3 systems by the end of this year, and then starting in 2026, deliveries will continue. It’s a process that could stretch from several weeks to several months. That’s why such wording is used — it sounds encouraging and optimistic, as if it’s going to happen soon, but at the same time, it’s not very specific. In such situations, we’d still prefer to hear and see real action and concrete details," Musiienko explains.

However, the expert notes that the issue is currently receiving significant attention, which increases the chances and likelihood that these Patriot systems will indeed be delivered to Ukraine as quickly as possible.

"The German Defense Minister stated that in the coming days he will coordinate with partners, in a spirit of mutual trust, the mechanism for implementing these plans, and that Germany will provide additional air defense systems and urgently needed ammunition. There’s certainly no lack of eloquence. But how many approvals, meetings, and discussions are needed before this vital weapon finally reaches us? That said, the necessary work is being done on our side," Musiienko concludes.
