"With the 'Oreshnik' Against Baku": Expert Says Russia Is Further Deteriorating Relations with Azerbaijan

Putin

Political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman stated that pro-war Russian Telegram channels are seriously calling for war against Azerbaijan because President Aliyev supported Ukraine, reports Politeka.
He spoke about this on his blog.

“Russians have gotten fired up and are planning to strike Baku with the ‘Oreshnik’. In Russia, they’re calling to prepare for war with Azerbaijan. Pro-military Telegram channels reacted to Aliyev’s advice to Ukrainians never to agree to occupation, writing things like: ‘Baku is following in Ukraine’s footsteps. Conflict with Azerbaijan is inevitable in one form or another. It’s time to reconsider our relationship with Azerbaijan.’ And the main call is to strike Baku with the ‘Oreshnik,’” said Mikhail Sheitelman.

Nevertheless, the expert emphasizes, the Russians don’t actually have the “Oreshnik,” but the Azerbaijanis do have Baku — and they need to know that Russia is an enemy. Therefore, he concludes, Azerbaijan should indeed prepare for confrontation with Russia — prepare together with Turkey, its ally, and also with Ukraine, because this is our common cause — to crush Russia.

Meanwhile, Peskov, the expert continues, is trying to calm everyone down, saying that there is a strong foundation in Russia-Azerbaijan relations, but that sometimes brief difficult periods occur — and this is one of them. He also added that it is very important to them that the Russian people are respected in Azerbaijan.

“Now hold on — let’s stop right there and look at that more closely. Why exactly should the Russian people be respected in Azerbaijan? For calling to strike Baku with the ‘Oreshnik’? Or perhaps for Russia’s role in the occupation of Karabakh for more than 30 years, for supplying tanks and shells there? For what else, exactly? Please list it. Azerbaijanis see what the Russian people are doing. They see how the Russian public cheers on the shelling of Kyiv and other cities. Respect must be earned, Comrade Peskov, and the Russian people haven’t done anything good in the last 34 years. Where are the honorable deeds of the Russian people? They've killed countless neighbors and their own citizens — and jailed the rest,” Mikhail Sheitelman concluded.
