"Drone-Waiters": Expert Reveals New Method of Conducting Sabotage Operations

Military expert Oleg Starikov stated that in 2025, drones have become the primary weapon on the front lines, making it impossible to conduct offensives with large groups, according to Politeka.

He shared this on his own channel.

"In 2025, the tactics of combined arms combat are completely different from those used even in 2024. In 2022, the fighting mainly involved infantry, artillery, MLRS, tanks, and armored vehicles supporting infantry advancing in battalion, company, or platoon formations. But in 2025, such operations would be considered madness, and the entire group would be destroyed at long range before reaching the front line," Oleg Starikov notes.

In 2025, he explains, combat looks like this: one or two assault teams on motorcycles, buggies, or preferably mopeds attempt to reach a specific position as quickly as possible and hold it, crossing through the kill zone. If they succeed, the next pair advances in the same manner. The defending side, using a similar number of troops, tries to repel the attack, but the main combat happens in the "low air" — using drones.

"Have you heard about 'drone-waiters'? No? Let me explain. The development of unmanned aviation is advancing not by the day, but by the hour. Now, to conduct sabotage operations, there's no need to send special forces teams deep behind enemy lines and risk personnel. It’s enough to deploy heavy ‘queen’ drones, adapted as platforms and signal relays, with 'drone-waiters' onboard. These drones use solar panels for additional power and are scattered along roads while remaining in radio silence," Starikov explains.

There is only one way to counter such a tactic, he claims — mechanical destruction using a shotgun or other small arms. Moreover, the expert notes, drone detectors cannot detect the ‘waiters’, and electronic warfare (EW) systems cannot jam them.
