Expert Explains How Germany Will Enhance Ukraine’s Long-Range Capabilities: “Initial Decisions Already Made”

Political expert and serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko explained that a ceasefire is not expected anytime soon, so Ukraine’s task is to repel enemy attacks and strike deep into Russia, Politeka reports.

He shared his insights in a blog post.

“Optimistic forecasts suggest mid-October at the earliest—no ceasefire or real progress is expected before then. October, or more likely November. Until that time, Russia will use all available resources to try to advance on the front lines, and our task is to repel these attacks and inflict maximum losses on the enemy on its own territory by destroying Russia’s capacity to wage war,” Musiienko stated.

According to the expert, it's no longer news that the war needs to be taken onto Russian territory—President Zelensky and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Syrskyi have both emphasized the need to strike more frequently at Russian targets.

As Musiienko explained, referring to statements by Johann Wadephul, a senior member of Germany’s Foreign Affairs Committee, Ukraine has the right to defend itself from Russian attacks and will gain the capability to influence targets on Russian territory. However, all weapons deliveries will remain classified. The German official also added that equipping Ukraine with new weapons systems is not a financial issue at this point, but rather a matter of availability and the production capacities of Ukrainian and European defense manufacturers.

“The first key point is long-range capabilities. This may refer to the Liut drones. Germany had previously announced its intention to finance them, and some initial decisions have already been made.
The second point is production capacity. This is crucial and needs to be expanded. We've already passed the stage of depleting existing European stockpiles. Now, the focus should shift from taking weapons from storage to producing and delivering them directly from manufacturers,” Musiienko explained.
