The End of Energy Slavery: Expert Talks About the EU–US Agreement

Europe

Political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman stated that the new EU–US tariff agreement is a victory for Ukraine because Europe will give up Russian energy resources and buy American weapons, Politeka reports.
He shared this in his blog.

According to the expert, the US and EU have agreed on mutual tariffs of 15%—whoever sells more wins—but that’s not very relevant for now since Ukraine is not part of the EU. What matters more, he continues, is another part of the agreement: the EU will purchase $750 billion worth of energy resources from the US and buy American weapons worth, as cautiously stated, hundreds of billions of dollars.

"The part about purchasing $750 billion in energy means that Europe has agreed to completely stop buying any energy resources from Russia within two years. Not just for a month or two, but for the entire duration of the agreement. No more energy imports from Russia—no oil, no gas, no coal. Europe will finally stop buying Russian energy and replace it with American energy resources. This is a clear win for us because when the EU paid Russia, that money came back to us in the form of missiles and drones. Cutting off the money means cutting off the drones and missiles," explains Mikhail Sheitelman.

The clause about purchasing American weapons, the expert notes, means that the EU will hand over everything from its stockpiles to Ukraine and will expect replacements from the US. Therefore, he concludes, the Europeans will be forced to buy American weapons even if they don’t want to—because it’s part of the agreement.

"I don’t know if this deal is good for Europe. If you listen to various economists, you'll hear a lot of different opinions. For example, the well-known economist Orban said this is a terrible deal for Europe. Maybe so. I’m not an economist. But I can tell you this: politically, this is extremely important for Ukraine—it's a huge victory," Mikhail Sheitelman concludes.
