Trump Responds Harshly for the First Time – Military Expert on the Redeployment of U.S. Nuclear Submarines

Military expert Oleg Starikov explained that the U.S. decision to redeploy nuclear submarines closer to Russia is a strategy of deterrence, and it is working, as the Kremlin has not responded, Politeka reports.
He spoke about this on his channel.
"To be honest, this made me feel relieved. I calmed down, because the White House administration — specifically President Trump — reacted this harshly for the first time since the beginning of the full-scale war in 2022 to the unacceptable nature of nuclear blackmail and the potential, God forbid, of a nuclear war," noted Oleg Starikov.
This is very good, the expert states, because, for example, European leaders often demonstrate short-sightedness, and it seems they lack understanding of the nuclear triad and the strategy of nuclear deterrence — but in the U.S., this understanding is solid.
He adds that it's also a good sign that there was no official reaction from the Kremlin to the redeployment of U.S. nuclear submarines, which means they understand what's going on and won't act like children with a "no, you're the idiot" attitude. As the expert emphasizes, throwing threats back and forth could ultimately lead to a serious geopolitical crisis.
"After President Trump's statement, the Moscow Stock Exchange fell, and the New York Stock Exchange also dropped — its shares lost a trillion dollars in value. What does that tell us? It tells us that the world understands: if we reach the 44th step of Kahn's escalation ladder — after which a nuclear exchange, a demonstration nuclear explosion, and so on become possible — then things will go badly. Everyone understands that the world does not need nuclear war. And this shows that the world prefers trade over war. That's a fundamental issue," explains Oleg Starikov.
