“They’re doing the only right thing in this situation”: expert explains what’s happening on the front line in Donetsk region

war in Ukraine

Political expert and serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko commented on the updated Deep State map showing that the enemy is pushing into Ukraine’s defensive lines in the Donetsk region, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this in his blog.

“The situation in Donetsk region is difficult. The enemy has been carrying out offensive actions in the Pokrovsk area for an entire year. Did we not know this? Is this some unknown fact? Did we not know that the enemy was focusing its efforts there? For several months now, this direction has been one of the top priorities for the enemy. The goals of the enemy’s 2025 spring-summer campaign are, first and foremost, attempts to capture the Donetsk and Luhansk regions,” said Oleksandr Musiienko.

That is why, the expert claims, Western media are reporting that Putin will demand the withdrawal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the non-occupied parts of Donbas. Therefore, he states, Russian forces will continue their offensive in Donetsk region, which is why breakthroughs are occurring.

“Let’s be objective. How long can a defensive line be held when the enemy has superiority in manpower, equipment, and in some areas, drones? Of course, at some point, the defense starts to crack, it begins to give way, and our defenders are doing the only right thing in this situation – they withdraw to previously prepared defensive positions,” Musiienko explains.

Thus, the expert concludes, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding the defense in the Pokrovsk direction, which is receiving significant attention – that is why the enemy has been held back for a year already. However, as Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi has said, he reminds us, it’s difficult – even impossible – to hold a defense permanently in one direction; it inevitably leads to withdrawals.
