“What is the Constitution, who attacked whom on February 24, 2022?”: Expert assesses whether Trump is ready to meet with Putin

Political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman explained that European politicians are giving Trump good advice regarding negotiations with Putin, but of course, he doesn’t delve into our war and believes in personal diplomacy, Politeka reports.
He spoke about this on his blog.
“Listen to what Hollande advises, and do exactly the opposite. Judging by everything, this is the motto Trump has decided to follow as he prepares for the long-awaited meeting with Putin in Alaska on August 15. And what is Hollande advising? As you may recall, François Hollande is the former President of France,” Sheitelman emphasizes.
According to the expert, Hollande advised Trump to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the situation during negotiations with Putin. After all, according to the former French president, Putin is in no rush—he always starts by recounting history, which can go on for hours if he isn’t interrupted. But Trump doesn’t have time for that—he promised to resolve all global conflicts and wants results. The expert claims Hollande knows what he’s talking about, as he participated in the 2015 negotiations with Putin and Merkel, which resulted in the second so-called Minsk Agreement. And Hollande insists Trump needs to know the details.
“Officials are still determining the topics of discussion, and CNN has called the upcoming summit the biggest test yet of Trump’s faith in personal diplomacy. That is, the belief that Trump is smarter and more charming than everyone else and will somehow ‘figure it out’ without understanding the subject—without knowing where the Zaporizhzhia region is, what the Constitution is, who attacked whom on February 24, 2022, and what the outcome was. He’s not supposed to know any of that—after all, it’s personal diplomacy,” Sheitelman comments.
According to the expert, American diplomats are genuinely trying to prepare for this meeting, to save face for Trump, who actually rushed to schedule it, thinking that Putin might agree to some compromises. Overall, he concludes, this meeting is turning into not a suitcase without a handle for the American establishment—but a motorcycle that won’t start.
