Chaos and Unpredictability: Expert Says It's Impossible to Predict the Outcome of the Alaska Meeting

Trump

Political analyst Yaroslav Teleshun explained that there are too many variables in the negotiation process, which creates uncertainty and forces us to approach Trump’s efforts with distrust, Politeka reports.

He shared his insights on the program “Personality with Serhiy Doyko.”

“Ukrainians are reacting with distrust. Why? Because this is a meeting of two systems: Trump is chaos, and Putin uses chaos as a tool to achieve his goals. Given this, there are a huge number of variables. And the parties involved in the process — Ukraine and our European partners who are closely watching — cannot predict what the conversation will be about or what outcome to expect at all,” Teleshun explains.

In recent weeks, the expert notes, Ukraine and Europe have been trying to clearly shape narratives for Trump in an effort to bring more structure to the negotiation process. However, he adds, it’s unclear how successful that’s been — because Trump, in and of himself, is chaos. So everything that was planned in advance can quickly change during the actual meeting with Putin.

“Unpredictability is dangerous not because the outcome will necessarily be good or bad, but because you never know what to expect. When the rules of the game are clear to all parties, it’s always easier to adapt — and even to counteract risks or challenges. But when there are a huge number of variables, doing that becomes much harder,” Teleshun emphasizes.

The guest also recalls how, after the meeting between Vitkoff and Putin, there was talk of some sort of agreement. Ukraine responded in a relatively neutral way — but the very next day, it turned out that everything about the supposed territorial exchange had been misunderstood. In other words, he stresses, one thing had been expected, another happened, and the result was chaos and uncertainty.
