“For the fourth year in a row they’ve ‘started nothing’: soldier talks about Ukraine’s successful defense”

The commander of a Ukrainian Armed Forces reconnaissance unit, Denys Yaroslavskyi, stated that the main outcome of Russia’s summer military campaign is that the Ukrainian army has successfully held the front line, Politeka reports.
He spoke about this in the program Dialogues with Ruslan Bortnyk.

“We’re holding the front — that’s the most important result. The Russians have been attacking all summer, storming everywhere, their assault operations haven’t stopped for a second. They’re trying to encircle Pokrovsk, Kostiantynivka, and move into Kupiansk. In other words, they’re storming, but we’re holding. That’s our biggest achievement. And at his meeting with Trump in Alaska, Putin didn’t claim they had any tactical success. Later they did manage a breakthrough, yes, but we cut off that ‘claw’ and wiped out the whole battalion — it was eliminated,” Yaroslavskyi recounted.

Yes, he admits, Ukraine cannot reclaim territory today because we don’t have allies like Russia does. But all the enemy has managed is to seize a few villages with “four houses.” And this, he stresses, is despite the fact that Russia is waging a full-scale war against Ukraine with every type of weapon except nuclear arms — with North Korean troops, Chinese technology, and supplies from Iran.

“For the fourth year now they’ve ‘started nothing.’ That’s the main outcome. We can state the fact that Russia can terrorize us with Shahed drones, yes, they can strike peaceful cities, hit apartment blocks, and spread terror. Yes, we’re not fully coping with closing the skies, but they can’t take us. Terrorize us — yes, but take us — no, no matter how much they want it,” Yaroslavskyi emphasized.

As he reminded, Putin keeps insisting that the war can only end if the Ukrainian Armed Forces retreat — but that won’t happen. As for Trump, the soldier noted, he doesn’t view Ukraine’s government negotiators — or even Europe — as independent actors, but he does recognize Ukraine’s army as one. And he knows that not a single soldier will retreat, since they would regard such an order as unlawful.
