“Trump found the weak spot”: expert assessed whether hatred really prevents peace talks

Trump

Military expert Oleh Starikov commented on Trump’s statement that hatred prevents Zelensky and Putin from holding a full-fledged dialogue, and evaluated whether this is indeed the main problem in negotiations, Politeka reports.
He spoke about this on his channel.

According to the expert, in this regard Trump, as a man with vast life experience and a hands-on practitioner, turned out to be right. In other words, he notes, Trump, acting as a mediator in the talks, identified the key obstacle that prevents him from fulfilling his campaign promise — to end the Russia–Ukraine war — and from becoming a Nobel Peace Prize laureate already this fall.

“But in order to resolve the issue of war and peace, it is not necessary for the leaders of the countries to meet. Representation can be elevated, a higher-level delegation can be formed. For example, foreign ministers have the authority to sign foreign policy documents on the level of presidents or prime ministers, depending on the system of governance,” Oleh Starikov explains.

The task of foreign ministers and diplomats in general, the expert stresses, is to communicate with each other. If dialogue does not exist, then it is a failure in staffing. According to him, it’s the same as with intelligence officers — they must keep talking, even when everyone has already fallen out and regardless of personal sympathies. This is a job where one must switch off emotions and perform their duties.

“President Trump found the weak spot and now will be thinking about how to solve it. Foreign ministers are one way, one path. But the Americans will find a solution. Americans always find the right solution to a problem — but only after they have tried all the others, as Churchill said. They will always find it; they have the resources for that: strength, power, money, and so on,” Oleh Starikov concludes.
