Ukraine won’t be able to march on Moscow without U.S. support: expert explains what Trump actually said

Trump

Political expert and military serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko commented on Trump’s recent post complimenting Ukraine for fighting well and claiming it could reclaim its 1991 borders — or even more, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this on his blog.

“Did Trump really listen to former Ukrainian President Yushchenko’s interview about the need to march on Moscow? That interview has been circulating on our social media. To Moscow. We hear these kinds of statements often, and of course, we can all talk about it. But the real issue is resources, capabilities, and the responsibility of those making such statements,” Musiienko noted.

According to the expert, Trump’s statements don’t mean much unless they’re followed by real steps in the near future — such as increased arms supplies to Ukraine or tougher sanctions against Russia. And, Musiienko emphasizes, Trump didn’t promise any of that. He said, “Let’s see in a month,” essentially giving Putin more time to continue the war.

“Beyond all the statements and declarations — and Trump makes plenty of those — what has actually changed or could realistically change for us? I think this is Trump’s way of distancing himself, trying to exit gracefully while pretending not to abandon Ukraine. Lots of praise, supportive rhetoric — but ultimately, it’s like saying: ‘Let Europe help you, and go ahead, march on Moscow without the U.S.,’” Musiienko explains.

However, the expert concludes that in the short term, this is extremely difficult — despite the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ successes at the front, tactical counteroffensives, and strikes on Russian military targets. Still, he stresses, Ukraine needs U.S. support — American technology, weapons, and investment in the defense industry are essential. Without that, it won’t be possible. And if Trump steps back, the question becomes: what next?
