Lack of Money or Will: Expert Explains Why the West Isn't Providing Enough Aid to Ukraine

The head of the organization "Protect Ukraine Now," Alik Kasman, stated that the U.S. and Europe have spent more money on COVID-19 than on aid to Ukraine because they fear escalation from Russia, as reported by Politeka.

He shared this information on the "7 Steps" channel.

As the guest of the program explains, he joined "Protect Ukraine Now" about three years ago because a lot of information was circulating about the huge aid Ukraine was receiving from the U.S., but the actual numbers were much lower. So, he continues, they started recording in tables and graphs the real weapons being provided to Ukraine to draw the attention of U.S. officials, hoping they would increase the supply, since it was insufficient for victory.

"Now we see that Trump also doesn't provide much aid. Biden and Trump are very different politicians, but when it comes to aid to Ukraine, they are similar. Europe too. Europe and America provided a similar amount of weapons and aid," says Alik Kasman.

In his opinion, this is due to NATO countries being extremely frightened of escalation from Russia, fearing that Putin will strike Europe seriously or use nuclear weapons, forcing them to respond, or else it would be the end of the Alliance.

"My understanding now is that they just don’t want a war where they’ll have to actually do something. We understand that significant amounts of money have already gone toward aid. Around $37 billion worth of weapons have been sent, and a similar amount came from Europe. So, Ukraine has received about $80 billion worth of weapons from its partners. These are large sums, but Europe spent €2 trillion on COVID, and the U.S. spent $4 trillion. So, it’s not about the money, it’s about the will. And the will is absent," emphasizes Alik Kasman.
