Cyberattacks, Sabotage and Drones: Expert Says Russia Is Waging a Hybrid War Against the West

Political expert and serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko stated that cyberattacks, sabotage, and now drones are part of Russia’s hybrid war against Europe, the aim of which is to undermine the unity of the allies, Politeka reports.

He discussed this in his blog.

According to the expert, drones flew again over the skies of Denmark, Aalborg Airport again suspended air traffic, and the newspaper Ekstra Bladet reported that at that time there was activity by the Russian Baltic Fleet warship Alexander Shabalin near the island of Langeland, 12 km off the Danish coast. He notes that the ship has since returned to Baltiysk — the Baltic Fleet headquarters in the Kaliningrad region.

“Kaliningrad would have long ceased to be Russian territory if the appropriate actions had been taken. I hope that someday that will happen and that Europe will correct this historical mistake. As long as there is a Russian exclave there, as long as the Baltic Fleet is based there, and as long as Russia can use military infrastructure in that direction, such operations will continue. Moreover, they will intensify,” Oleksandr Musiienko asserts.

He says Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen shares the same view; she stated that a hybrid war is being waged against her country and that what we are seeing now is only the beginning of the attacks — there will be more. In her view, he explains, Denmark and Europe as a whole are not at war in the traditional sense of the word, but cyberattacks, sabotage, and drones are signs of a hybrid war.

“In general, this is a strategy to destroy European unity and integrity. It is a challenge that Putin has thrown at the whole of Western civilization. It is aimed at undermining the unity of the allies, breaking up alliances and unions such as NATO and the EU. And, ultimately, according to Putin’s plan, this should lead to an increase in Russia’s geopolitical and geostrategic weight within the European security system and in the system of relations on the European continent,” Oleksandr Musiienko explains.
