Permission for strikes deep inside Russia, a mega-deal and even Tomahawk: an expert explained what Trump has in mind

Political expert and serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko said that the U.S. will now seriously arm Ukraine, but if that does not force Russia to negotiate, the war of attrition will continue, Politeka reports.
He described this in his blog.
The expert notes that U.S. presidential special representative Keith Kellogg stated that Trump has allowed Ukraine to carry out strikes deep into Russian territory. Obviously, he observes, Ukraine was already striking into Russia with its own capabilities, so this statement is tied to what Vice President Vens said the day before, when he confirmed that the U.S. is considering supplying Ukraine with Tomahawk cruise missiles with a range of 1,600 km for strikes against Russia.
“Plus, it seems to me this could also mean that the U.S. will now be willing to sell even more ATACMS missiles, with which one could very, very seriously flatten and strike Russian targets near the Ukrainian border. So this is a bad message for the military in Bryansk, Kursk, Voronezh, and Rostov oblasts at the very least, and also, of course, for the occupied territories. I think the demilitarization of Crimea from Russian presence will continue, as will that of occupied Donetsk and Luhansk,” Oleksandr Musiienko reasons.
He also notes that President Zelensky said Ukrainian officials will hold technical talks with Americans in October regarding arms purchases and a separate agreement on drone production, and that Prime Minister Svyrydenko will next month discuss potential projects in Ukraine with American officials as part of a joint investment fund. Ukraine, the expert emphasizes, is ready to conclude separate agreements with the U.S. on certain types of weapons, including long-range systems, but for now without details.
“Long range. Keith Kellogg’s statement that Trump lifted restrictions on strikes into the depth of Russian territory. Joint projects. The mega-deal Zelensky talks about. All of this fits together like a puzzle. I think this is being done now so that by the end of the year Putin will be forced to sit at the negotiating table on reasonable terms acceptable to Ukraine and the West. That is the maximum objective. If not, then there will be a war of attrition and more weapons will still be needed,” Oleksandr Musiienko concludes.
