"The U.S. Hasn't Even Started Yet": Expert Explained What Trump Is Trying to Achieve with the Tomahawk Story

Trump

Political expert and serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko assessed how far Trump is willing to go when he says the decision to supply Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles is virtually made, Politeka reports.
He discussed this in his blog.
According to the expert, the missiles in question are likely those with a range of up to 2,600 km, and they would be launched from ground-based launchers — such capabilities exist. However, he adds, Trump also said he wants to consult with Kyiv about the practical use and employment of these missiles.

“And Trump essentially trolled Putin by saying he does not seek escalation. Really — what escalation? The escalation came exactly from Putin’s side. How long could one irresponsibly and uncontrollably talk about how we will defeat everyone, that they should just try, that we haven't even started yet? Well, in fact the U.S. hasn't even started yet. But it seems ready to start,” Oleksandr Musiienko emphasizes.

At the same time, he notes, it should be understood that the very information about transferring Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine already puts pressure on Putin — this is Trump’s deliberate strategy. That is, the expert explains, first information appears in American media citing their own sources and insiders that Ukraine may soon receive long-range missiles; then in interviews Kellogg and Vance say that we are talking about Tomahawks. However, he observes, so far they have not managed to push Putin into negotiations, so Trump moved to the next stage — declaring that he has effectively made the decision.

“The next stage is consultations with Ukraine. I think these will likewise be accompanied by deliberate information leaks from the American side to the media about the missile variants and the targets on Russian territory that could be struck with these types of missiles. If even that does not work on Putin, a transfer of a few missiles is possible, then a few dozen, and then direct combat use,” Oleksandr Musiienko concludes.
