Race of innovations: an expert spoke about a KAB that almost reached Poltava

war in Ukraine

Political expert and serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko commented on the situation with the Russian KAB that was detected 20–25 km from Poltava and assessed the risks posed by the enemy’s new weapons, Politeka reports.

He told about this in his blog.

“Unfortunately, the enemy will not stand still. Will they try to improve the technical and qualitative characteristics of their weapons or develop new models? Yes — Russia will strive for that. In addition to classic warfare on the battlefield, we are also seeing a competition and serious rivalry for better innovative, technological and quality solutions that could improve the armament situation. And on that path Russia continues to work with aerial bombs,” Oleksandr Musiienko states.

As he explains, if the KAB reached nearly to Poltava, it must have an additional rocket motor and a smaller warhead — about 100 kg, roughly equivalent in explosive power to 2–2.5 Shahed drones — so it’s essentially a bomb-rocket.

Earlier, the expert notes, Russia has already used this development: for example, a few weeks ago a similar bomb was shot down on approach to Dnipro. So far these are isolated cases. There is no evidence of mass production yet, he adds, but it’s better to wait for reports from the relevant agencies and intelligence before drawing conclusions.

“Of course, now specialists — explosives experts and manufacturers — will work on it; they will study the KAB, including how many potentially foreign technologies and components may have been used in producing this type of weapon. Then we will be able to inform our partners,” Oleksandr Musiienko concludes.
