In a way, it’s a lottery with an unknown outcome – political strategist on the U.S. president’s position

Trump

Political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman explained that the position of the U.S. president is, for Ukraine, an external factor that doesn’t really influence the war against Russia very much. Therefore, everything is in the hands of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Politeka reports.

He discussed this in his blog.

As the expert notes, it has already been a year since Trump won the U.S. presidential election, and during this year, our fate has taken a sharp and unexpected turn. Well, not entirely unexpected or unpredictable, he clarifies, but certainly a major one.

“Let’s quickly assess, in a minute, what has actually changed in our lives. We kind of knew how events would have unfolded under a hypothetical Biden or Kamala Harris. Although, what does it mean to ‘know’? Would they have supplied us with weapons? Who knows. Maybe Congress wouldn’t have approved it. Why would Congress suddenly approve funding for them? When funding wasn’t approved for us before, we didn’t get weapons.

And now we’re saying that if it were Kamala Harris or Biden, we’d be sitting here with weapons in hand. But no, that’s not a fact. Why? What’s the fact then? Or people say that Trump couldn’t establish peace with the Russians, but Biden supposedly could? What am I getting at? In reality, everything, unfortunately, is still in our hands. Whether Biden or Trump is president of the U.S. – that’s an external factor,” Sheitelman commented.

Of course, the expert continues, if you are an American, then your president is an internal factor that truly affects your life. Therefore, choosing the U.S. president, he emphasizes, is up to Americans — and for us, Ukrainians, it’s something we just have to live with, without knowing how this external factor will play out.

“For us, in a sense, it’s a lottery with an unknown result. How many times have we already changed our attitude toward Donald Trump? One moment we’re Trumpists, the next we hate Trump, and so on,” Sheitelman concluded.
