Trump–Putin summit: expert explains when it could take place

Trump-Putin Meeting in Alaska

Political expert and serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko explained that it is not worth counting on a Trump–Putin meeting or a ceasefire for now, and that the United States is generally shifting its focus to China and Venezuela, Politeka reports.
He spoke about this on his blog.

As U.S. Secretary of State Rubio stated, the expert notes, Trump will agree to another meeting with Putin only if there is a significant opportunity to end the Russian–Ukrainian war, and there will be no meetings just for the sake of meetings.

“In other words, in the near future a Trump–Putin summit will not take place, because Russia continues offensive actions, continues terrorist strikes on our civilian facilities, and for now they believe they can break our resistance. And the U.S. is also waiting until Russia is ready to agree to a ceasefire,” Oleksandr Musiienko asserts.

Meanwhile, he says, the U.S. is becoming increasingly involved in the situation in Latin America: War Minister Hegseth announced the start of a military operation against the Venezuelan drug cartels. According to the expert, we will see how large-scale and long-lasting this operation will be, but it will certainly shift the focus away from the Russian–Ukrainian war. In addition, he adds, Hegseth proposed a strategic redistribution of global security responsibilities so that the U.S. reduces its presence in Europe and concentrates on deterring China in the Indo-Pacific region, while Europe itself would handle deterring Russia on NATO’s eastern flank, since, he says, Europe has sufficient potential for this.

“Well, it seems the U.S. will be weakening its presence and attention in Europe. Therefore, the tasks for European countries are doubling and tripling. They need to build up their own capabilities, invest more in defense and security, because the war is already reaching EU countries — drones are already flying in the skies above EU member states. The war is closer than they think. And they must act, unite around Ukraine, support Ukraine, and develop their own capabilities. This is truly important,” Oleksandr Musiienko concludes.
