Kupiansk, Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad, Hulyaipole: Military expert assesses the situation in hotspots

war

Military expert Oleg Starikov explained what is happening in the most difficult sectors of the front and clarified why kill-zones have not become a panacea and how the Russians are managing to get through them, Politeka reports.
He discussed this on his channel.

According to the expert, the most difficult situation has developed in the Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad, and Kupiansk sectors, where defensive positions have fragmented and turned into isolated pockets of resistance. At the same time, he adds, a tactical crisis has slowly but steadily emerged in the eastern Zaporizhzhia sector, which can be referred to as the Hulyaipole direction. The problem, the expert explains, is that the distances between these hotspots are large, making it difficult to transfer reserves to contain the crises.

“By relying entirely on a ‘drone wall,’ the Ukrainian Armed Forces found themselves unable to counter this tactic, which requires maneuvering along the inner arc. We were able to do this until recently. Thus, the enemy’s strategy of conducting operations has begun to offer them advantages over the tactics of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which involve defensive battles in static positions with the hope that drones will exhaust all of Russia’s military resources and leave the Kremlin unable to continue fighting,” Oleg Starikov explains.

The “drone wall,” he argues, is very effective — but only in open terrain, in clear weather, and when the enemy advances in formations reminiscent of those used during World War II. However, the expert states, Russian forces have found a way to overcome this kill-zone method by infiltrating, which makes this tactic ineffective in urban areas.

“And wartime experience shows that as soon as the enemy manages to gain a foothold in a populated area, they immediately bring in their drone operators. Their task is to hunt down our drone operators. In other words, it is impossible to build a ‘drone wall’ in a city — and none of our command, especially the Drone Systems Forces, has considered this,” Starikov concludes.
