We are approaching an important point, next week will be decisive – expert on peace

Political expert and serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko explained that since Putin refuses peace, everything now depends on the United States – either new oil sanctions or pressure on Ukraine, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this on his blog.

“Putin expressed himself in such a way that he is currently not ready to make concessions. Putin continues to create a smokescreen, a situation of uncertainty, when he makes controversial statements that contradict each other, and in this way essentially tries to conceal his real intentions. From his statements, it appears that Russia is not ready for concessions at this stage, and they want the foundation of a peace settlement to be precisely that 28-point plan,” Oleksandr Musiienko notes.

Meanwhile, he says, Zelensky called on European leaders to join a possible meeting with Trump, which would make it possible to discuss sensitive issues regarding ending the war more effectively. The expert also points out that in his evening address, Zelensky announced important personal meetings — without specifics — which could also imply a visit to the White House.

“We are approaching an important point; next week will be decisive in determining whether there is a chance for progress in peace negotiations and for stopping active hostilities at the end of this year or the beginning of the next. Or the war will enter a prolonged phase without prospects for a peaceful settlement for about another six months, until new conditions emerge. And whether our partners, especially the U.S., will actively support us during this time by allowing European countries to purchase weapons and by providing intelligence. And what the fate of Russia’s frozen assets will be. Many questions. A difficult winter lies ahead,” Oleksandr Musiienko explains.

Next week, he notes, Vitkoff will be visiting Russia, and if Putin blocks the updated peace plan, everything then depends on the position of the United States. That is, the expert explains, the U.S. may begin delivering unpleasant surprises for Putin, including further oil sanctions, or they may decide to agree with Russia’s position, claiming that the aggressor is already winning, and therefore pressure should be put on Ukraine.
