Inertial Power vs. Adaptive Resilience: Expert Summarizes the Situation on the Front Line in 2025

Military expert Oleg Starikov stated that the front line remained dynamic throughout 2025, but without major changes, and assessed the tactics of Ukraine and Russia in the war, reports Politeka.

He shared this on his channel.

According to the expert, from a strategic military perspective, the situation on the front was consistently difficult for Ukraine in 2025, as our Defense Forces were on strategic defense. Russia's forces, he notes, seized the strategic initiative and spent the entire year on the offensive.
"In short, the front line of the Russia-Ukraine war in 2025 was characterized by intense fighting, massive drone and missile attacks, as well as gradual shifts in the front on certain directions," claims Oleg Starikov.

The tactics of Russia, according to the expert, involved massive pressure, relying heavily on drones, missiles, and artillery with the goal of depleting resources and destroying Ukraine's infrastructure. As for the resilience of the opponent, he emphasizes, it is based on mobilizing material flows and the ability to withstand its own losses. Ukraine's tactics, the expert explains, were about gradual adaptation, focusing on flexibility, pinpoint counteroffensives, innovations in air defense, and integrating Western technologies. The goal was to maintain combat readiness and gradually restore territory. Thus, our resilience, he notes, is based on the ability to adapt to new threats and maintain societal morale.

"If we frame this as a comparative model, it forms a kind of resilience matrix, where one side demonstrates inertial power, and the other shows adaptive survivability. Based on the above, we can conclude that despite fierce battles, there was no strategic breakthrough in 2025. The front line remained fluid, but without major territorial changes," concludes Oleg Starikov.
