Secret conspiracy or real success: an expert explained how the United States managed to capture Maduro

Maduro

Political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman explained that Russians could not have reached an agreement with the United States to hand over Venezuela in exchange for Ukraine, because the U.S. consists of many people and institutions, and they would never agree to such things, Politeka reports.
He said this on his blog.

According to the expert, people need to be realistic and discard conspiracy theories about Venezuela—supposedly that the Russians made a deal with the Americans and, in return, Ukraine was involved. As he explains, too many people would have been involved: Venezuela’s entire air defense system, the Venezuelan army, general-admirals, the Venezuelan Ministry of Defense, Cuban special forces, and, accordingly, the president of Cuba as well. That is, he notes, in such a case everyone would have had to know everything except Maduro himself, and then Trump would still have had to somehow force Zelensky to sign a document surrendering Donbas.

“This is fantasy; that’s not how it works. America is multifaceted and multi-headed; it has many branches of power, and you can’t make such deals with them. You can make deals about prisoner exchanges. Remember, the Americans negotiated with the Russians: we give you 20 people and you give us 20 people; a plane in Istanbul, we swap. That’s a deal—it happens right now, quid pro quo. These are deals negotiated by intelligence services. Remember the spy bridge where people were exchanged during the Cold War. That’s a deal here and now—this for that. Everything else is fantasy. All conspiracy theories are huge fantasies. ‘We’ll give you Venezuela now, and in six months you give us Ukraine’? Who would do that? Someone would come and ask, ‘Hey, you promised us Ukraine.’ Who promised? To whom? What are you talking about? So all conspiracy theories—goodbye,” Mikhail Sheitelman explains.

As for how Maduro was captured, he notes, it happened because 130 American aircraft arrived; it was a massive military operation planned over several months. A naval armada was brought in, aircraft carriers were deployed.

“It was, after all, a magnificent operation by the U.S. military. In this case, both the regular forces and special forces—everything coordinated between them. It was a huge army operation, involving the navy, aviation, and special forces. This can’t be denied. This is what is called the world’s number one army. This is how it fights. It proved that it exists and that it knows how to do all this,” Mikhail Sheitelman emphasizes.
