A Major Geopolitical PR Game: Mykola Tomenko Explained the Real Goal of the Peace Talks

Trump

The leader of the civic movement Ridna Kraina, Mykola Tomenko, explained that Ukraine and Russia are ready to discuss the points of the U.S. plan, but there will be no agreement; at best, Trump will receive a Nobel Prize, Politeka reports.

He said this on his own channel.

“Russia is also playing with Trump; it has learned how to do this too. Medvedev is apparently kept drunk, with his hands tied and his mouth sewn shut so that he doesn’t say anything. If they acted as before, they would have said that this plan is shameful and criminal and that it was written by Ukraine. Instead, they say: ‘The plan is generally not bad, but out of 20 points we don’t like 18.’ They are also playing with Trump. And we understand that this version of the 20-point plan, which we also criticize, will definitely not be accepted by Russia,” Mykola Tomenko claims.

Thus, he notes, our starting position is to convince Trump that Russia will not agree to a ceasefire, so that this concept of tough sanctions, which we are constantly being promised, finally begins to work. From this follows a simple conclusion, the politician says: elections at the moment are not a real scenario, but rather a topic for discussion among experts, specialists, and institutions.

On the other hand, he adds, the Ukrainian negotiating team can also be praised: they sensed the general position and did not start saying that the U.S. peace plan is a capitulation. After all, the politician notes, with Trump and such difficult Europeans, Ukraine must demonstrate its interest and show that U.S. ideas are good, but that each point will be debated.

“In other words, we are now witnessing a major geopolitical PR game. We are helping Trump receive the Nobel Prize next year and become a peacemaker. That’s the game we’re playing. We are not so much stopping the war as helping Trump become a peacemaker. But that is the subjective reason. The objective reason is that Russia still wants to squeeze Ukraine, to take a third or a quarter of our territory. Russia’s plans have not changed. There cannot be peace when Russia stands by the position that five regions are written into its Constitution. In our Constitution, it is written that all of this is our Ukraine. Do you understand? There is no way to reach an agreement,” Mykola Tomenko concludes.
