Paris Declaration: Expert Assesses Whether Western Troops Will Actually Be in Ukraine

Political strategist Mykhailo Sheitelman spoke about how the latest meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in Paris ended, which countries are ready to send their troops to Ukraine, and whether this is possible at all, Politeka reports.
He discussed this on his blog.
“For us, the main thing is that European forces on Ukrainian territory were included (ed. – in the Coalition’s declaration in Paris). The British and the French acknowledge that they will be here with us. What was not included? The Americans crossed out what, in talks, they either promised or didn’t promise. The Europeans were demanding that the Americans be ready to protect their contingent. That is, French and British troops are standing there, and if Russia attacks, the American army, which is not in Ukraine, would be obliged to protect this contingent—for example, by launching air strikes against Russians who attack the French and British. This is what the discussion had been about all this time. It was in the original draft prepared by the Europeans and Ukraine, and this is what Witkoff, Kushner, and the generals removed. In Russia, by the way, there’s a celebration over this, because the Americans are not providing guarantees that they would enter the war,” Sheitelman says.
According to him, the document states that the United States will assist in the mechanism for monitoring and verifying the ceasefire regime, but the mention of their participation in a multinational contingent has disappeared. At the same time, the expert reminds that after meeting with Trump, Zelensky spoke about the possibility of U.S. troop participation, but that is now definitely off the table.
German troops, he notes, apparently will not be involved, nor will Italian ones, but Spanish troops have unexpectedly appeared on the horizon. The Spanish prime minister, the expert says, announced that he would submit the issue of sending troops to Ukraine for parliamentary consideration. Moreover, Spain has previously taken part in peacekeeping missions in various parts of the world—in Iraq and Afghanistan.
“But let’s be honest now. Will it work? No. Well, not yet. Will Putin come out right now and say: ‘I had a revelation from God; He told me to immediately stop the war, allow the entry of British and French troops onto Ukrainian territory, and agree to freeze the conflict along the front line without recognizing the occupied territories as Russia’s. This is the will of God’? Will Putin say that today? No. Will he say it in the summer? That is possible,” Mykhailo Sheitelman asserts.
