“The Right of Force Prevails”: Expert Warns of Global Consequences of a U.S. Operation Against Venezuela

Political analyst Ruslan Bortnik explained that the U.S. operation against Venezuela was carried out without a decision by the UN Security Council and therefore encourages other countries to resolve issues related to their national interests by force, Politeka reports.
He spoke about this on his blog.

“Venezuela has long been a geopolitical, economic, and military base in Latin America for China and the Russian Federation. This is yet another confrontation, similar to the Ukrainian one, the Middle Eastern one, the Taiwanese one, and many, many others. It is a continuation of the struggle between the so-called political Global South and the so-called political Global West,” Ruslan Bortnik asserts.

According to the expert, there is a struggle for control over Latin America; next will come Colombia and similar countries. Trump, he notes, is implementing the Monroe Doctrine — the inviolability of America, the right of the United States to do whatever it wants in Latin and North America, especially given that Venezuela possesses the largest oil reserves in the world.

“The United States, as the leading part of the West, is losing the privilege of relying on international law, because it itself does not act on the basis of international law. If there were a need and expediency to conduct an operation against Venezuela, it would have been necessary to convene the UN Security Council, seek consensus there, vote, and only then possibly carry out some kind of operation against Venezuela. Unilateral actions open the door for all other countries. The right of force prevails,” Ruslan Bortnik warns.

Thus, he concludes, all this increases the likelihood of a Chinese operation against Taiwan and many other conflicts. According to him, we are now in a stage of reformatting and possibly forming a new balance, as after World War II, based on the strength and capabilities of the sides rather than on law.
