“Perhaps it is worth considering this option as well,” an expert on Ukraine’s accession to the Peace Council

Political expert and serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko explained that Trump wants to turn the Peace Council into an alternative to the UN — an organization that would respond to today’s global turbulence, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this on his blog.

“The Peace Council, which emerged from the Gaza Peace Council to resolve Israel’s conflict with the terrorist group Hamas, is in fact intended to create an alternative to the UN. This, by the way, is inevitable. No matter what, what Trump is proposing in this situation is a strategic decision, because we all see that the UN is currently not fulfilling the functions entrusted to it,” Oleksandr Musiienko asserts.

According to the expert, whenever the world was at a turning point, certain organizations were created: after the First World War — the League of Nations, after the Second — the UN. Now, he notes, there is a major war in Europe, Russia has violated international law, the world is turbulent, so someone had to propose something — and Trump did.

Regarding Putin’s invitation to the Peace Council, Trump said, the expert notes, that one must deal with everyone, not only with losers. One could say that he is frankly impressed by Putin’s manner of conducting international affairs, but tolerating aggression and genocide is not normal. Thus, he concludes, Russia will obviously be in the Peace Council — but it is also in the UN, where Ukraine’s representative performs brilliantly. That means any platform should be used; after all, it will be necessary to deal with the Russians at some stage of peace negotiations.

“Therefore, perhaps it is worth considering this option as well (ed. — joining the Peace Council). And for us to be the first to declare this to the United States, to say that we are essentially moving in step, that we are ready to cooperate. I think this will be another argument that Trump will not be able to go against when talking about Ukraine having to make concessions, and so on. And it will demonstrate our desire for peace. I think this is important in the current situation,” Oleksandr Musiienko explains.
