Artificial Intelligence and Robots: Expert Speaks About the Security Crisis and Its Real Guarantees

Political analyst Ruslan Bortnik said that many countries now consider nuclear weapons to be the main guarantee of security—but not the only one. The Pentagon is already using artificial intelligence in its operations, while China is building an army of robots, reports Politeka.

He spoke about this on his blog.

According to the expert, amid the global security crisis, an arms race is unfolding. Even countries that previously had not considered active participation are now taking increasingly radical positions. In particular, he recalls that President Nawrocki stated that Poland should have its own nuclear weapons. Earlier, Foreign Minister Fidan also mentioned that Turkey could join the “nuclear club.”

“New START is not working; deterrence no longer exists. There is a sense that the nuclear non-proliferation mechanism is collapsing. Iran may suffer for its attempts to become a nuclear state, but Turkey and Poland are not Iran. Technically, they are still far from achieving that. Therefore, more and more countries are saying that nuclear weapons are the key—or one of the main—guarantees of their own security,” explains Ruslan Bortnik.

Nevertheless, he notes that not only nuclear weapons but also artificial intelligence as a weapon of mass destruction is coming to the forefront of military operations. The Pentagon has officially confirmed the use of AI during a military operation in Venezuela aimed at kidnapping Maduro. The AI analyzed vast amounts of data hundreds of times faster than a human and provided recommendations on what actions to take at any given moment.

“China is preparing for the next-generation war. This may not be very positive for humanity, but it is, in fact, a solution for countries that are not ready to sacrifice their soldiers or are very sensitive to human losses. For states and corporations, this is the near future—I believe within the next five years: drones in the air, firing positions shaped like robotic dogs, humanoid robots operating directly on the ground,” Ruslan Bortnik concludes.
