Putin Is Copying Trump: Expert Assesses Where the Kremlin’s Nuclear Blackmail Is Leading

Donald Trump, Putin

Military expert Oleh Starikov analyzed why Russia is talking about preparations to transfer nuclear weapons to Ukraine, what the calculation is behind this, and how events may unfold next, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this on his channel.

According to the expert, John F. Kennedy and Nikita Khrushchev were able to stop the Cuban Missile Crisis in their time because they had experienced war and remembered what it was like — unlike current world leaders, who do not know how to stop such a situation. No one, he states, wants “Cuban Missile Crisis 2.0,” but unfortunately, he notes, the Doomsday Clock was moved to 85 seconds before midnight in January because scientists understood what could follow — and that is extremely dangerous.

“The Kremlin will continue escalating with the risk of reaching a Cuban Missile Crisis scenario. If things continue this way, how will the situation develop? Will Ukraine have a neutral, non-aligned status? A nuclear-free zone? In principle, relevant negotiations are currently underway between Russia and the United States, including on nuclear security. Therefore, as I foresee it, the Kremlin’s first demand will be to ensure a nuclear-free zone and neutral status,” Oleh Starikov argues.

If no agreement is reached, the expert suggests, the Kremlin may begin demanding — amid its statements — the establishment of external governance over Ukraine under a mandate from the United Nations Security Council or a “Trump Peace Council” through a decision of the United Nations General Assembly.

“What is President Donald Trump doing now? Everything related to the Islamic Republic of Iran. He declares and demands from a position of strength that the Islamic Republic of Iran must not have nuclear weapons and must not be able to produce enriched plutonium. That is exactly what Putin has started to do — mirroring this approach,” Oleh Starikov emphasizes.
