“Ukraine, Save America”: Expert Comments on the Decision to Help With Drones in the Middle East

Political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman said that Ukraine will be able to negotiate independently with Arab countries about selling interceptor drones, but regarding Viktor Orbán, it would be better if the European Commission acted as a mediator, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this on his blog.

“Ukraine has already sent experts to Jordan to protect American bases from drones. That is, we are not protecting Jordan, but America. You know, before people used to say, ‘God, save America.’ Now it’s: ‘Ukraine, save America,’” Mikhail Sheitelman emphasizes.

As he explains, citing the New York Times, Ukraine has already sent interceptor drones and experts to Jordan, and another group of experts will later be dispatched to help countries in the region defend themselves against Iranian drones—not with expensive missiles for the Patriot system, but with Ukrainian systems.

Meanwhile, Kaja Kallas, the expert notes, said that in response to the demand for interceptor drones, the European Union is preparing an initiative to act as a mediator between Ukraine’s defense industry and the military needs of the Middle East.

“Well, dear Kaja Kallas, of course I was shouting at you—not at you personally, but at the European Union and the European Commission in particular—urging them to urgently become mediators. But I was shouting: ‘Become mediators between Ukraine and Hungary.’ Bring back the collectors, provide the 90 billion (ed. – loan). ‘Bring all of that back,’ I was shouting. But with the Arab countries, well… Believe me, Ukraine and the Arab countries will somehow manage to reach agreements on selling their own drones without intermediaries, without the European Commission,” comments Mikhail Sheitelman.
