Drone attack on Moscow: expert explains where Russia’s weak points are

war

Political expert and serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko commented on the attack on Moscow and the Moscow region over the weekend and assessed whether it might be better to focus on Russian oil, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this in his blog.

According to the expert, internet access was shut down in Moscow for most providers, and outages may also begin across the region. Officials say, he adds, that this is for security reasons, but in reality they do not want the truth to be shown. They are also afraid that there could be targeting assistance — that Muscovites themselves might pass on information about the location of important facilities, the movement of military equipment, the deployment of air defense systems, and so on.

“Almost two-thirds of all air defense systems, surface-to-air missile systems, electronic warfare equipment, and radars are concentrated around Moscow. Over the past years, Ukraine has done a great deal to reduce the aggressor’s potential in air defense systems, radars, and various types of SAM systems, from the S-400 Triumf to Buk, Pantsir and others. Look at the kind of ‘road’ that has effectively been created for our drones in occupied Crimea, when our forces break through and systematically destroy radars, launchers, reload vehicles, and so on. All of this is losses. All of this leads to the air defense potential decreasing — but around Moscow it still exists. It is difficult to get through it,” explains Oleksandr Musiienko.

In the expert’s opinion, now that the United States has allowed Russia to transport oil, it would be worth focusing on export capabilities — that is, striking Novorossiysk, Tuapse, Primorsk, and Ust-Luga, as well as the tankers of the shadow fleet themselves, oil refineries, and oil depots.

“We will get to Moscow eventually. The aggressor must be weakened economically. That should be the strategy. Escalation should happen in exactly this way. Strikes on Moscow are also necessary, but we see that air defense is concentrated there; it is difficult to pass through all these echelons. There are three to four rings created around Moscow and the region. Therefore, it may still be better to focus on Russia’s oil export capabilities — that would be a serious blow to the enemy,” Oleksandr Musiienko concludes.
