The U.S. lifted sanctions on oil: an expert assessed whether Trump is helping Putin

Oil Sanctions

Political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman explained that the United States did not anticipate Iran’s strikes on oil when the war began, and because of the crisis it indeed had to lift sanctions on Russia, reports Politeka.

He spoke about this on his blog.

According to the expert, if Donald Trump had wanted to help Russia, he would have done it more openly and through more direct methods. However, the sanctions on Russian oil were lifted only temporarily—until the crisis situation ends—after which they will be reinstated.

“Out of their own foolishness, they failed to calculate the consequences. Some consequences simply weren’t considered. Can I blame Trump personally for this? No. It’s not Trump personally. An entire team failed to foresee the consequences; they did not expect such an effect. Trump himself, by the way, said this. They did not expect Iran to strike its neighbors. So Trump failed to foresee the consequences. Trump ran into another madman, another ‘Madman operation’ from Iran, which is not just striking Israel—which was obvious—not just hitting American bases—which was predictable—but also striking refineries and ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. No Trump could have predicted that. And no one on his team could have predicted it either,” Sheitelman explains.

He claims the blame lies with Elon Musk, who allegedly dismissed a significant part of the United States Department of State and United States Agency for International Development. USAID, the expert explains, was not just about “kind people handing out billions”; they also wrote reports about what was happening in different countries and communicated with politicians and opposition figures.

“Elon Musk came in and started chopping with an axe because he simply didn’t understand any of it. And Trump was like: ‘He’s a friend—Elon Musk is my buddy, I trust him, he’ll do everything well.’ And here’s the result: there’s no one left to predict these strikes. If they had had the right people, they would have predicted them,” Sheitelman concludes.
