Ukrainian experts are already in the Middle East: an expert assessed whether the West should return the favor

Iran

Political expert and serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko commented that Ukrainian military experts are already in the Middle East and evaluated what Ukraine might receive in return, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this on his blog.

“It is not specified whether Ukrainian specialists will directly shoot down Iranian drones. This is not about training; it is about deployment, which is a very important nuance. Does the president mean that we will only assist? Or will they actually be shooting them down? If they do, that would mean participation in the war—essentially intervention, something many European NATO countries are currently avoiding. I know we are determined, brave, and courageous—we have proven that many times, and I am proud of the Ukrainian people—but what comes next? What will we do with this going forward? Will they take part in combat operations or not?” Oleksandr Musiienko comments.

As the expert notes, Ukraine has had experience with operations in Iraq, and before that there was experience in the USSR, but all of it ended in failure; the Eastern European region could not be a serious player in the Middle East. Now, he states, we want to turn the page of history and try again differently—God willing it will work—but questions remain.

In particular, the expert reflects on whether it is too early for Ukraine to say it is ready to defend all of Europe and the entire Middle East, and what it will receive in return. According to him, if the United States were now to provide Ukraine with Patriot air defense systems, Tomahawk missiles, maintain sanctions against Russia, pressure Orbán regarding the adoption of the EU’s 20th sanctions package, and give Ukraine carte blanche to strike Russian tankers worldwide, that would be an equivalent exchange.

“What is the goal? To demonstrate to Trump that we are ready to help, that we are not like the European NATO countries he criticizes. But look: European countries refuse to help Trump unblock the Strait of Hormuz, while we are ready to help—and for Trump, both those who refuse and those who offer help are equally ‘bad.’ Moreover, Trump does not see Ukraine in this configuration at all. He wants peace at Ukraine’s expense, and this scenario does not suit us,” Oleksandr Musiienko concludes.
