“Two trump cards”: expert says Ukraine is becoming a more attractive ally than the United States

war in Ukraine

Political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman stated that Ukraine’s first trump card is its weapons and combat experience, while the second is the ability to form military alliances where partners won’t be abandoned, as he claims is currently happening under Donald Trump, Politeka reports.

He shared this in his blog.

As the expert notes, within two days Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the kings of Britain and Spain—likely no one else has managed to meet two monarchs in such a short time. Donald Trump, he recalls, once boasted about being received by the British monarch, but Zelenskyy was received twice just last year, and overall it seems that Charles III has developed a strong affinity for Ukraine.

“But Zelenskyy didn’t just meet two kings—he also gained two trump cards. Zelenskyy now has two trump cards. Ukrainian weapons are the first one. Suddenly it turned out that Ukrainian weapons are in demand worldwide. Suddenly it turned out they are needed by the British and by Arab countries. Donald Trump does not acknowledge that he needs Ukrainian weapons, but he is buying them too,” Mikhail Sheitelman claims.

As he notes, The Independent has already highly գնահատed Ukraine’s assistance to its partners. According to the expert, the publication writes that while Donald Trump criticizes allies, Zelenskyy offers partnership—Ukraine shares its experience with other countries and, despite Russian aggression, sends specialists to the Middle East.

“This is the first card. And the second card is political. If the United States drops out of NATO, then with Ukraine’s participation it would be entirely possible to create a military alliance. As I understand it, this is exactly what was discussed during the meeting with Keir Starmer—the creation of a military alliance. That is the second card. One is military-technical, the other is political, which emerged due to the events in Iran,” concludes Mikhail Sheitelman.
