A Terrible Mistake: A Political Strategist on Trump and the War Against Iran

Trump

Political strategist Mykhailo Sheitelman explained that preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons is the right thing to do, but that Trump should also have dealt with Russia instead of threatening U.S. allies. He shared this in his blog.

“Giving such terrorists nuclear weapons is unacceptable. It would allow them to carry out terror under a nuclear shield. I will never allow that,” Trump said. “Golden words—I fully support Trump. Why do I think these are golden words, worth framing and hanging on the wall? Because they fully apply to Russia as well,” Sheitelman argues.

The point, the expert explains, is that Trump accuses Iran of killing citizens of Western countries and its own people, which is why such terrorists must not be given nuclear weapons to hide behind as a shield. However, he emphasizes that Trump does not oppose Russia having nuclear weapons, even though the country has done the same things—for example, shooting down a Malaysian passenger plane and carrying out Stalinist repressions.

In general, the expert notes, Europe has become tense over a potential U.S. war against Iran, and Ukraine also has reason for concern, as Trump is threatening to stop supplying weapons purchased with European funds. Meanwhile, the British press, he says, is playing on the words “all” and “oil” when writing about Trump, calling it all his mistake, his fault, and even demanding that King Charles’s visit to the United States be canceled because of these attacks on the United Kingdom.

Furthermore, the expert continues, a scandal has erupted involving Macron: Trump directly commented on how poorly his wife treats him, which even the French opposition condemned. As a result, the U.S. is gradually losing allies.

“And on the cover of The Economist is, in a sense, the result. It shows a very blurred portrait of Trump, with a smiling Xi behind him, and the headline: ‘Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a terrible mistake.’ That’s how it is. Trump has indeed lost all his friends, and now his enemies are laughing at him,” Sheitelman concludes.
