This cooperation has clear reciprocal benefits: an expert explained why it is advantageous for Ukraine to help in the Middle East

Iran

Military expert Oleh Starikov explained that due to the war in the Middle East, Ukraine’s role has sharply transformed: we are not only asking for help, but are also ready to provide it in a way that benefits ourselves, Politeka reports.

“We are witnessing a fundamental transformation of Ukraine’s role on the international stage. We have moved from the status of a country that merely needs assistance to that of a strategic security partner. Ukraine possesses unique, battle-tested experience in countering Russian and Iranian drones, as well as massive combined aerial threats. This experience is now critically in demand in the Persian Gulf region. Recently, the president stated that our specialists are already working in the region, providing expertise and real support in defending against threats. We are not just sharing knowledge and experience—we are helping to build resilient defense systems that are already delivering concrete results,” said Oleh Starikov.

According to the expert, Ukraine is demonstrating the ability to scale production under constant pressure and to rapidly update solutions in response to new types of threats, showing adaptability and speed. Our technologies, he explains, integrate radars, sensors, and software into unified interception platforms that are highly effective in combat conditions.

“The sustained interest of partners in our defense solutions is the foundation for broad economic cooperation. Ukraine hopes that Gulf countries will take part in reconstruction and that there will be direct investment in the Ukrainian economy. For Ukraine, this cooperation has clear reciprocal benefits. The involvement of financial resources from Gulf partners means air defense systems to protect our cities, new missiles, additional armor, and weapons,” Oleh Starikov explains.

Today, he emphasizes, Ukraine is a country that not only defends itself but also helps defend the world. Our presence in the Persian Gulf region is not only about technology, but also about respect for the Ukrainian soldier and engineer, who have gained immense experience in conducting combat operations in the conditions of modern transitional warfare. The expansion of international contacts at the highest level, which we expect in the near future, he adds, opens the way to contracts that will contribute to our victory and shared security for decades.
