“Only Schröder Is Missing for Peace”: Expert Assesses the Results of the May 9–11 Ceasefire with Russia

Political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman explained that Russia is behaving in negotiations with Ukraine the same way Iran behaves with the United States — except that Ukraine cannot respond as sharply as Trump does, reports Politeka.

He spoke about this on his blog.

As the expert notes, sometimes one really wants to feel like Trump — not because of the golden statues, but in order to be able to say openly that this is a weak ceasefire. According to him, Trump stated that Iran had sent the United States not a 14-point peace plan, but a piece of garbage that he did not even finish reading, and that the ceasefire itself was one of the weakest imaginable. According to the expert, the situation is exactly the same for Ukraine, but Ukraine cannot respond the way Trump does.

“For us, it is essentially the same thing. The agreements they send us are the same pieces of garbage, where again and again they demand that we hand over our territories and dictate where we may or may not join. In other words, Russia, together with Witkoff, sends us the same absolutely absurd agreements that Iran sends to Trump. Yes, of course, we feel the same desire to tell them where to go. The ceasefire with Russia is just as worthless as Trump’s ceasefire with Iran,” claims Mikhail Sheitelman.

According to Trump, the expert continues, the ceasefire with Iran is weak and about to collapse. Ukraine’s ceasefire with Russia did not even need time to collapse — the Russians simply waited for it to end and immediately resumed shelling Ukrainian cities.

“They couldn’t hold back; they are so eager to kill. It’s like alcoholics trembling over a shot glass: ‘It’s already midnight, now I can drink.’ I saw those drunks in the Soviet Union standing outside stores before opening at 11 a.m., hands shaking, begging, ‘Give me a bottle.’ That’s exactly how the Russians are: ‘Let us kill someone already.’ And so the ceasefire ended. The Russians opened fire from every weapon and every caliber. And if you think it was only artillery shells — not at all. Look, they were preparing for this. All these peacemaking speeches by Putin about striving for peace, about needing Schröder… Only Schröder is missing for peace,” comments Mikhail Sheitelman.
