"The Question of Our War Will Be Just One of Them": Expert Assesses Whether Xi and Trump Will Achieve Peace in Ukraine

Political analyst Ruslan Bizyaev explained that ending the Russia-Ukraine war is beneficial for both Trump and Xi Jinping, but for this to happen, they must reach an agreement on broader, more global issues, reports Politeka.
He discussed this on the program “Dialogues” with Ruslan Bortnik.

“The situation looks like this: all Xi Jinping and Trump can negotiate is where exactly and on what principles to stop the war in Ukraine. But, from my subjective point of view, they will work within a broader agenda, where the question of our war will be just one of the issues. One of the issues. That’s the first point. Second – the influence of both sides on the situation is absolute: from the U.S. on Ukraine, and from China on Russia,” explains Ruslan Bizyaev.

The expert emphasizes that we should not forget that Russia is, at the very least, in the yuan zone. And one should not think, he stresses, that Russia and China are allies, because allies stand back to back, not just engage in transactions for specific trade-industrial operations.

In his view, Russia can be called a junior partner of China, and it is not in Beijing’s interest for Moscow to lose this war. However, there are broader considerations, given the pace of China’s economic development and the issues that arise from it. In particular, the expert notes, it is extremely important for China that Europe does not collapse as well – Europe should be weak but solvent, since it is one of the main markets.

“In this sense, ending the war in Ukraine is situationally beneficial for both the U.S. and China right now, it seems to me. Who was actually the first to announce a peace plan in February 2023? Comrade Xi Jinping, with his 12 points,” asserts Ruslan Bizyaev.
