A Positive Trend: Expert Explains Why Russia No Longer Launches Large Numbers of Missiles

Political analyst and serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko stated that during massive strikes, Russia is no longer able to reach its previous missile numbers, indicating that its capabilities are declining, Politeka reports.
He spoke about this on his blog.
“Regarding the attack carried out by Russia. What they had been stockpiling… I can tell you that Russia did not exceed average missile figures. This is a trend. We no longer see attacks on Ukraine involving 100 missiles or even more. I want to remind you that in 2022–2023 such attacks happened, even at the beginning of 2024. But there is no trend toward an increase. Despite all their production efforts and despite the stockpiling, it is clear that even under the conditions of the so-called ceasefire regime, Russia was unable to accumulate around 100 missiles for a strike,” Oleksandr Musiienko claims.
Russia is unable to return to its previous intensity of attacks, the expert notes. We are seeing flights of old, rusty Tu-22 bombers, while Tu-95 and Tu-160 aircraft are still being deployed, but their operational resources are effectively being exhausted. At the same time, he adds, Russia has managed to accumulate drones, but Ukraine is shooting down 93% of them, according to statistics from the latest massive attack, whereas the problems with missiles are obvious.
Despite the fact that the Russian military-industrial complex continues operating, the expert emphasizes that the intensity of missile strikes has not been restored partly because of Operation “Spiderweb” in June 2025, which reduced the number of missile carriers. Secondly, he adds, Ukraine’s Defense Forces are systematically striking Russian military facilities involved in the production of missiles and drones.
“As a result, the aggressor’s capabilities are decreasing. Of course, without China’s assistance, these capabilities would have declined even more significantly. But as of now, we can see that strikes against military-industrial facilities are reducing the enemy’s ability to produce missiles. This is actually a positive trend worth paying attention to,” Oleksandr Musiienko concludes.
